All parents, staff, students, and interested community members are invited to attend the School Advisory Council (SAC) meetings. These meetings are a great way for parents and community members to stay connected and involved in what’s happening at Harns Marsh Middle School.

What is SAC?

• State Requirement: Every school in Florida must have a SAC.

• Purpose:

  • Establishes school goals

  • Develops the School Improvement Plan (SIP)

  • Recommends how to spend school improvement funds (must support SAC goals)

Membership & Requirements

SAC membership must represent the school’s demographics and include:

• Principal (1)

• SAC Chair (1)

• Teachers (2)

• School Personnel (2)

• Community Representative (1)

• Business Representative (1)

• Parents (2)

Additional Requirements:

• At least 51% of SAC members must be non-employees of Harns Marsh Middle School.

• Minority representation must reflect the school population: 45–75% minority members (school population is currently 60%).
