Harns Marsh Middle School Dress Code

Tops

  • Polo Shirts: Short or long-sleeved, solid in any color with one small logo permitted.

  • Undershirts: Solid-colored, short or long-sleeved undershirts may be worn under polos.

  • HMMS Spirit Shirts: Club shirts, Hardest Worker, PBIS, etc., may be worn throughout the week with dress code bottoms.

  • College Shirt Day: Wednesdays – College shirts may be worn with dress code bottoms.


Bottoms

  • Uniform long pants, shorts, skirts, and capris in navy or khaki/tan.

  • No black bottoms and no denim material of any color.

  • Must be worn at the waist and be the correct size.

  • Long pants may not be tucked into shoes/socks or gathered in any way.

  • Skirts/shorts length must be appropriate when standing; final decision at principal’s discretion.


Other Guidelines

  • Belts: Plain, solid color, unadorned, no oversized buckles.

  • Shoes: Closed-toe and closed-heel required at all times. No slides, Crocs, or slippers.

  • Water Bottles: Clear, handle-free, used only for water. No metal or glass containers.

  • Jewelry: Prohibited if it poses a safety concern.

  • Hats/Sunglasses: Only for protection during outdoor activities.

  • Jackets: Full zip, 1/4 zip, or crewneck sweatshirts/sweaters/jackets with no hoods are permitted. Hooded items will be confiscated and must be picked up by parents/guardians.

  • Gym Clothes: Only during P.E. or athletic events.

  • All dress code expectations are subject to the principal's discretion.


Not Permitted (Will result in parent contact to correct)

  • Jeans or denim (any color)

  • Cargo shorts/pants, joggers, carpenter pants, low-rise bottoms, pocket-less spandex

  • Oversized/tight-fitting clothing, torn or frayed clothing, ornamental stitching

  • Clothing promoting gangs, weapons, violence, racism, illegal activities, alcohol, drugs, or tobacco

  • Sweatbands, multicolored headbands/bandanas

  • Flags of any kind—national, political, cultural, or organizational—displayed anywhere on campus
